Currently, cellular metallic materials are mainly developed and produced by research institutes. The product range is mostly limited to prototypes or small batches where costs play a minor role. Only a few fields, such as machine tooling and automotive industry, succeeded in applied series manufacturing. More industrial fields shall be involved by initiating and efficiently accomplishing concrete research and development projects. The network is a base of business which allows the development of completely new and particularly economic manufacturing methods with the complementing technological competences of the individual network partners. Synergetic effects allow dealing with complex problems which cannot be Furthermore, the activities of the network are focused on publishing the multifaceted advantages of cellular metallic materials. For this purpose the intention is to start new cooperations with other institutions which already has been realised in many projects. A close collaboration has been initiate with the Lightweight Construction Cluster.
